The Bedford, named after Bedford County, Tennessee is where all of our saddles were designed by our founder and designer, Rich. At Tennessee Saddlery, we have been making Bedford for over 15 years! S personal favorite saddle in the tradition of the Old Timer style. The Bedford is made in black and brown. These saddles are built on a specially designed gaited tree. It works well on most Tennessee Walkers, Spotted Saddle Horses, Racking Horses, and most of the other southern gaited breeds. NOTE: This saddle does not seem to fit most Arabians. Full Grain Leather is THE BEST leather available. We use only vegetable tanned quality leather. Full grain leather is the best and strongest leather for saddles, but may or may not have some slight natural imperfections, such as scrapes, fat lines, and other minor irregularities that will be minor and in no way affects the use of the product. This saddle is named after the bird known for endurance and perseverence, the Sharp-Tailed grouse. This saddle, like the grouse, has a sharp-tail (check out the photos). This is one of our original designs done over 15 years ago! A classic that still looks great! This is our only saddle that comes in a light natural leather or black. This saddle always sell out in 16. TN Saddlery “Trail Rider”. 6 3/4Flared gullet especially for gaited horses. Our tree works well on short back horses also. Great fit and great contact. This is the best leather we have ever obtained for this saddle. Leather with nylon reinforced stirrup/fender straps. Prevents holes from stretching. High density foam padded soft leather seat. Cheyenne cantle roll (great when you need to grab onto something). Now include 3/8 foam pad between the fleece and tree for extra comfort for your horse. It is entire under side of saddle……… The full size of fleece. Includes Endurance stirrups as show. Angled rear D’s for “cross fire rigging”. Double ply girth straps for extra strength and wear. Double girth D for full, 7/8 and 3/4. 5/8 optional if you use cross fire rigging. Lots of choices with this rigging. We use quality leather. If you are not familiar with the term “full grain”…….. Its the best quality surface finish of leather available. Not filled, not shaved, not sanded… Chosen for its smooth natural quality. I have include a picture of the underside of this saddle. Every once in a while, someone has a horse with a very prominent back bone. This saddle has quite a bit of clearance at the spine. We also carry a correcton pad for that problem if necessary. This saddle is supplied with 2 double ply girth straps for cross fire rigging. If you prefer regular rigging. TN Saddlery uses only full grain leather to make our saddles. Full-grain leather refers to natural hides that have not been sanded, buffed, or coated (as opposed to top-grain or corrected leather) to remove imperfections (or natural marks) on the surface of the hide. The grain remains allowing the fiber strength and durability. The Full grain also has breath ability, resulting in a less stiff and supple leather. Rather than wearing out, it will develop a patina during its expected useful lifetime. These are very desirable characteristics in a saddle. Leather with too many imperfections become “top grain” or “embossed” or “bonded” leather. Those grades are much cheaper, because the doctor-up the leather to make it look good. Full grain leather may show some natural marks or flaws in the leather, because they have not been “fixed” as in cheaper grades of leather. These natural imperfections or marks do not in any way affect the use and durability of the saddle. I have been working for years to develop my gaited saddle. It seems that only about 1 in 10 people take the time to enter feedback…… And I really thank them. I also get calls and emails thanking me. I’m really proud of my saddles and strive to make my customer’s happy. These saddles are built on a specially designed gaited tree. It works well on most Tennessee Walkers, Spotted Saddle Horses, Racking Horses, and most of the other southern gaited breeds. If you have a MFT, Paso Fino, or Rocky Mountain, gaited horse that is difficult to fit, contact me for my recommendations. This saddle does not seem to fit most Arabians.
