Cliff built this saddle over 20 years ago and when it came back to him when the rider retired, he chuckled to himself, saying “gosh, that is a weird looking saddle”. This rider brought Cliff a Charro Saddle (Mexican style) tree and wanted it built to be as light weight as possible, without sacrificing durability or the ability to work, and be comfortable for miles and miles of ride time. This rider was a VERY serious endurance rider and needed a very specific saddle. This is that saddle! It’s a bit of a cross between a Santa Fe and Charro style, but made as light as possible. Built on a 15? Tree, but with the padding, this saddle fits and measures true to 14.5? . On Full QH Bars, measuring 7? With great flare, shorter bar length at the front of tree and moderate rock. This would be a great option for a wide build Morgan, Arab, or QH with a rocked top line. The seat is really cool on this one, as it’s a slick seat but the leather is lined with felted wool to offer padding without bulk. Angled front rigged, plenty of rings and strings for packs, and offers some nice concho accents. We love the look that the exposed tree offers, making this saddle very unique. To help keep the weight down, this saddle has a single skirt, narrower/thinner stirrup leathers to also reduce bulk, and slightly lighter weight leather. But is still the leather quality and durability you’d expect from Wickett & Craig. This saddle is older and has seen a TON of ride time (even finishing Tevis Cup 100 mile race) but has been incredibly well cared for. Leather is butter soft, oiled and cleaned often, and stored well. Does have some darkening in a few spots, mainly the rear skirts form packs. This is definitely a saddle that will stand out without being’too’ much. It is getting far harder to find used Langerud Saddles on the market, especially at this price. This one is ready to work, trail ride, or even to complete another Tevis 100. This saddle features a 15″ hard seat, 4″ cantle, huge 14″ swells with a beautiful leg undercut, post horn with leather dally wrap, 6 long leather ties, 7/8 drop rigging, breast collar dee rings with a matching breast collar (I don’t believe the breast collar he made), back cinch, 6 1/4″ gullet, SQH bars, built on his famous Bob Ray handmade rawhide wrapped trees, fleece is good, brand new angled stirrups added, new off billet, new latigo, new cinch, and weight is around 42lbs. Ok folks now here is another needle in the haystack. I didn’t expect to get another Bob Ray saddle in. This man is one of the most talented makers I’ve seen. Today he no longer makes saddles but is still making his saddle trees. This particular saddle should probably be in a show case, but Bob built his saddles to be ridden. Some of the finest saddles you’ll ever find. A true legend in Utah for the quality of saddles he built. This saddle has a narrower bar flare and gullet. So I’d recommend for a narrower horse.

15 Vintage Circle Y Equitation Saddle w/ Tack. This awesome, older (1980 model) Circle Y is aging like a fine wine! There’s a reason that these saddles are so popular–they are built to last! This one has all the look of an’old school equitation’ saddle, one that is still more than welcome in the ranch or versatility classes. It’s on a wood tree, can hold up to some harder work, and still showy enough to hit the show pen. This one has decades of more ride time left in it! Built on Semi QH bars, measuring 6 and offers wider shoulder flare. Offers just a bit of rock to the bars as well. This one can easily be an everyday riding/trail saddle as it has a heavily padded seat and slightly raised twist. This one is sure comfy! In our favorite dark oiled color, and is fully tooled in the prettiest classic Sheridan floral tooling. We love the stainless lacing details on the cantle and skirt AND buckstitching. This is an older saddle, but has overall been well cared for–but does show some signs of age and use. Has a very minor seat tear on the cantle, has rubbing through the leather on the front of the skirts, thru to the cording that makes the wavy lacing, is missing a copper rivet on one breast collar d ring, and some minor scuffs and scrapes. Despite being older, its been well cared for and the leather is quite soft and again shows less use/wear than you’d expect from a saddle of this age. The fenders go insanely long on this saddle, while still offering a ton of adjustment. Comes with its original and perfectly matching breast collar and rear rigging, with back cinch. This is a lovely, over saddle that has a ton of riding left in it. At this price, you truly can’t go wrong! Seat: 15 (fits a hair smaller). Tree/Gullet: Semi Bars, 6.

With the holiday’s approaching we are trying to get everyone ready. That means we will be listing new saddles and other items over the next few weeks. Today we are offering this Dale Chavez show saddle for sale. Anyone who knows the name Chavez knows the high quality saddles and tack they produce. They are made here in the USA in Temecula, California. This saddle has a 12.5-13 inch suede leather seat. It is completely tooled with the classic basket weave and floral pattern. The silver is super clean and shiny not tarnished or pitted. This saddle does come ready to ride with a off-billet and tie-strap. For those of you who use breast collars it does have “D” rings. The lining is very clean and has no holes or wear spots. As you can see from the pictures the stirrups are pre-turned. The stirrup leathers have been cut and someone has added some extra holes. This should not effect anyone that can fit in this saddle. Measuring from the center on the seat to the last usable hole, we measure 34 inches. It does have nice leather wrapped stirrups. The tree is Rock solid. The horn has no wiggle or wobble. Overall skirt length is 24 inches. Total weight is 27 pounds. Read and Trust our FEEDBACK!
