EXCEPTIONAL VINTAGE MEXICAN CHARRO SADDLE – STERLING SILVER – HAND-TOOLED LEATHER – MATCHING SWORD. Offered is an extraordinary vintage Mexican Charro-style presentation saddle, completely unused and exceptionally detailed. This is a remarkable example of traditional Mexican hand craftsmanship, featuring extensive hand-tooled and hand-carved leatherwork, sterling silver decoration, and a matching decorative sword. Saddle Blanket is also included. This saddle has NEVER been used for riding. The saddle features beautifully detailed hand-carved leather with elaborate floral, scroll and geometric designs throughout. Numerous sterling silver conchos and silver-mounted fittings adorn the saddle and accompanying tack. The decorative wooden horn includes a distinctive horse-head design, and the set includes matching components and a breast collar. According to information provided by the previous owner, this saddle was displayed for many years at the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum in Amarillo, Texas. The previous owner also related that the woman who created this extraordinary piece spent approximately 1,000 hours hand-making and decorating the saddle. We were further told that the museum was so interested in the saddle that they asked the owner to consider donating it to the museum. The owner retained ownership and ultimately brought the saddle back. Elaborately hand-tooled Mexican Charro-style saddle. Sterling silver decorative fittings/conchos. Matching Mexican-style decorative sword. Additional accompanying saddle components shown in the photographs. Vintage – NEVER USED FOR RIDING. This saddle was made and kept as a display/presentation piece. It has not been used as a working riding saddle. There may be minor signs of age from storage and display, but there is no apparent riding wear. We have intentionally not polished, refinished or altered the leather or metal. Please examine all photographs carefully, as the photographs are an important part of this description and show the actual saddle and accessories being offered. A Truly Unusual Collectible. This is not an ordinary Mexican riding saddle. The combination of the extensive hand tooling, sterling silver decoration, matching tack, never-used condition and reported museum display history makes this a particularly unusual piece. It would make an impressive addition to a collection of Mexican Charro equipment, Western Americana, equestrian collectibles, Mexican folk art, or historic decorative arts. Please feel free to ask questions. We will be happy to provide additional photographs or measurements whenever possible. You are welcome to pick this up in Oklahoma City and will include the metal stand for the saddle. Open to any reasonable offer.
