Highly Collectible Original Newton Porter Saddle owned by Actor Dale Robertson’s Wife. Porter Saddlery was a very high quality and prominent Saddlery in Phoenix Arizona. Newton Porter made custom saddles that were built for stars of stage, music, sports, as well as captains of industry and various others. Dale’s wife’s Uncle, Orville Bozarth was Sheriff of Prescott, Arizona in the 1950’s. This was his roping saddle that he used for roping and rode in Parades in Prescott. Her Grandfather, Bob Robbins was also Sheriff in Prescott before Orville. Saddle Strings were replaced 25 years ago. Hand built by John Carroll. Carroll Saddle Company in McNeal, Arizona. Medium tree 6measured fromgullet screw to screw. Extensive tooling, Includes back cinch. Built around 1978 – it has been a safe and comfortable ride. This saddle is in great shape – super solid construction. It has kept well-oiled and, in a climate-controlled environment. LEATHER COVERED WOODEN TREE. NARROW TREED w/ a 5 GULLET. SINGLE TONGUE BUCKLE FOR STIRRUP HARDWARE. LEATHER GIRTH STRAPS & LEATHER CINCH STRAPS. This saddle would be great for western décor or for usage. This is not a saddle for a small child. The leg length is for a tall thin person that can fit in a 14 inch seat. This is a solid treed saddle. The leather is in fair condition. There are surface cracks throughout. There are a few scrapes & scratches from use. Both stirrup strap ends have been replaced. Heiser Saddle, has stitching that needs replaced on back of highback seat and on right front of pommel, leather in tact except one place on inside of left side on pommel abount 2 long that has been repaired and one spot on top of right side of pommel a little larger than a quarter. New leather covered stirrups that look good with saddle. I’m sure it has been used as a working saddle and had a long life of use, but is realatively clean excet as described.
