Sandstone Western Leather Floral tooled Trail Barrel Pleasure horse saddle 15.5. Nice looking older saddle, Sandstone was a local brand located here in Terre Haute Indiana by the owner of the famous Boot City western store, and was produced sometime between 1988 and 1996. After asking around some local long-time horse folks, the story I got was that his saddles were actually produced down in the area of Stone Mountain GA, which would account for the Dome shaped looking mountain in the background on the saddle’s ID tag. It looks like it would be well suited for any of these disciplines and is a nice, light weight as well. Overall it’s in pretty good shape, suede seat has no holes or tears, most everything seems to be in solid useable condition, leather is solid and while it could use more cleaning / conditioning than what I have given it, it is not cracking/dryrotting. Fleecing (appears to be synthetic but not sure) on underside is in good condition. The used off billet & tie strap shown are included. Cantle height 3.75. Seat size: 15.5. Gullet: from OUTTER Concho screw to OUTTER concho screw with yardstick is: 8.5. Placing a soft flexible tape on the inside, directly where screws would be, I come up with 6.75. Was sort of interesting. The fork is designed with a sort of mildly scalloped design that makes it a bit difficult to know where exactly to measure from, but I think 15.5 is very close. Blevins buckles show some oxidation & age, and will eventually need to be replaced. Stirrups look like they will extend out for a very long legged person if need be. The stirrup adustment holes are placed a little off center on one side, so that they are closer to the edge of the leather on one side.
