Very intricately carved, and beautiful western roping saddle. Obviously handmade and handcarved by a very skilled individual, but he left no name that I have found. There is finely done buckstitched edging which is subtle and very attractive. The seat is lovely, inlaid, triple stitched with a beautiful design, and attractively presented. It is a full 16 inches from the base of the horn to the inside rim of the cantle. The cantle is the old elephant ear type, and the measure of 16 inches, although confusing in the photo above, is to the inside rim. The stirrup leathers are excellent and adjust with an old Blevins buckle system. The stirrups themselves are leather covered, carved to match the saddle and are good. The horn is a large, southwestern style, and both horn and tree are tight. Even the underside of the pommel is carved. The gullet is a full 6 inches, and the skirts are long, measuring 28 inches. The saddle was just lightly washed, and the color reflects that moisture in places. The saddle color will be darker, as it appears in some of the photos. The flash of the camera lightened the color a bit. I believe this can be seen in photos 4 and 5. 14.5 15 Hand Crafted Excellent Used Crates Roping Saddle Also Good Pleasue Trail

This is a quality used western roping saddle that is also good for pleasure and trail riding. It is hand crafted by Crates Saddlery of Chattanooga, Tennessee. This is a fine saddle…. If our folks didn’t have such big guts and big butts on our ranch, we’d be keepin this one in use around here!! It has 2287-2 on the cinch keeper and about a 14.5 to 15 inch seat depending on how you measure, and what we’d call regular quarter horse bars with about a 7 inch gullet. See pictures to verify measurements. The rawhide covered tree is solid and sound and the horn is tight. It has the good stirrup leathers that are original length and not cut or shortened. It has breast collar D rings and hoof pick holder complete with pick. It comes rigged to ride with all the rigging shown in the pictures. New front off billet, good used front cinch strap, new leather flank girth, and used flank billets. It only needs front girth of your choosing.. Saddle weighs about 38 pounds and the liner is good.
