A tall 5 cantle and vertical horn give you the presence and security to ride with confidence. There is a lot of padding in the seat so a size bigger than usual may be recommended. A short round skirt is great for a shorter backed horse. I used this saddle on a smaller horse with higher withers for trail riding also, because it is lightweight and more comfortable with the round skirt. While it is a barrel saddle, I found it to be more comfortable for both myself and my horse, with a nice deep seat for riding Missouri hills. As a barrel racing saddle, you could not ask for more.
