Hand made, hand carved Leather Western Roping Saddle 16 Beautiful seat FQHB

Very intricately carved, and beautiful western roping saddle. Obviously handmade and handcarved by a very skilled individual, but he left no name that I have found. There is finely done buckstitched edging which is subtle and very attractive. The seat is lovely, inlaid, triple stitched with a beautiful design, and attractively presented. It is a full 16 inches from the base of the horn to the inside rim of the cantle. The cantle is the old elephant ear type, and the measure of 16 inches, although confusing in the photo above, is to the inside rim. The stirrup leathers are excellent and adjust with an old Blevins buckle system. The stirrups themselves are leather covered, carved to match the saddle and are good. The horn is a large, southwestern style, and both horn and tree are tight. Even the underside of the pommel is carved. The gullet is a full 6 inches, and the skirts are long, measuring 28 inches. The saddle was just lightly washed, and the color reflects that moisture in places. The saddle color will be darker, as it appears in some of the photos. The flash of the camera lightened the color a bit. I believe this can be seen in photos 4 and 5. 15.5 Circle Y – Show/trail saddle. This saddle features a 15.5″ brown padded suede seat, Standard Quarter Horse bars, 6 1/2″ gullet, Rawhide wrapped wood tree (which is hard to find in a show saddle any more), 3″ cantle, silver on back of skirt and cantle the cantle silver doesn’t say anything and is just a clean plate, double rigging (to be able to adjust to different horse shapes, or riding), slot for back billets and back cinch if you wanted, breast collar dee rings with a matching breast collar, 5″ wide matching leather wrapped stirrups, fleece is good, and weight is about 32lbs. Every time I get one of these older Circle Y’s in I drool. They sure don’t make them the same any more. This beautiful saddle was made in 1989! Just look at the quality of leather and workmanship the builders once used. These older saddles were built, not to just be the prettiest saddle in the show ring, but to last for generations. And, have a character that the new saddles just don’t have. This saddle is a used saddle, but was has been taken care of and is gonna keep on winning shows and be a treasure to the next owners.
