Here are the saddle particulars. 14 leather seat (measured from front of seat to Cheyenne roll). Fully tooled leather construction. Brass dropped dee front and rear rigging. 22.5 skirt length. Rawhide wrapped wood tree with 5.75. Gullet – made to fit a narrow, high withered horse. 2.5 wide leather stirrup straps. Weighs approx 27 lbs. Comes as pictured with tie straps, but no girth. VINTAGE SEARS & ROEBUCK J. 8146 TAPADEROS STIRRUPS NICE! We believe not 100% sure, that this is to be among the few remaining early 1940s about, or 1950’s? Higgins saddles made for the Sears & Roebuck Co by Bona Allen. There are no BA marks on saddle that I can find, but basing on information online. This saddle is numbered 8416 and has the numbers 1225 (which are smaller and above 8416) and complete with the original J. Higgins bucking bronco brand on saddle in front of the saddle horn. The saddle, which is a dark brown, features beautiful floral detailed leather tooling on the skirt and fenders. The leather is still pliable and in great shape for a vintage saddle. This saddle even comes with the tapaderos stirrups which have a heavily stitched leather covering, and the details vary from the front to back, waffle imprint on one side. This saddle is still very durable. Lots of nice adornments on this saddle as well, some new, some older. The sheep skin/lambs wool liner is not in the greatest shape. This would be, as we see it, the biggest concern with this vintage saddle. There could be some hardware missing, please review fully for details.
